Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
